Square Free

The magic of New York City lies in the people.  The people who stop by just because your holding a camera and insist you take pictures for them right their and now for their myspace.  I was only too willing to oblige, as its times like these I'm reminded why I want to do this for the rest of my life.  No matter what I have to overcome along the road, all sacrifices must make in the future don't matter when its just me and the camera.

Square Free is a rap group out of Bronx NY.  March 8th found them on the streets of Manhattan, shamelessly promoting their homemade album for eight hours in the cold, accepting just change--or a picture-- for a copy.  To me this is what gets lost in the commercialization of most art forms.  The closeness with the audience, the belief and pride in yourself.  Because maybe, just maybe, that is all we need to survive a cold march day.
